Our Head Sommelier knows there is much more to a sommelier's job than an encyclopedic knowledge of wine and a black uniform - it's about passion, commitment and a heartfelt love of the subject.

“The wine should be chosen to match the food as well as the person. Therefore, I work very closely with our Head Chef to suggest wines that will best complement to each particular dish. A smile and a tactful offer to assist with the selection or to answer any questions that you have go a long way to establishing that the sommelier is there to help, not to intimidate. The most interesting part of my job is to discuss wine and it is very important for me that diners feel that questions are welcome. To make life easier for the less wine-savvy, each wine has a number next to it so that you can order without fear of mispronouncing French, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese names.

Most of the time, remember a wine is good because you enjoy it in a happy and warm atmosphere with people you like.”
